1000km attracts the cars that ran in the World Sportscar Championships between 1964 and 1971. Though there are podiums and class prizes for each race along the way, the number of kilometres in each race are added together until 1000kms are reached, and the car that reaches 1000kms quickest is the overall winner. Consequently all laps are counted, even if a car did not pass the chequered flag. Two drivers are preferred, but are not obligatory, but pit stops are compulsory.
Confirmed races in 2012 so far are at Donington on 5-6 May, Monza on 2 June for a special four hour race, see below, and a two-hour race at the Algarve Historic Festival on 18-21 October.

Monza Four Hours & 5-Lap Shootout
For cars up to the end of 1971 this race will more than ever echo the famous Monza 1000kms of the 60's and 70s. The Monza 1000 km race was for many years the highlight of the Italian season, often eclipsing in popularity the Italian GP. The same cars will be eligible that were eligible then.
Essentially an extension of the 1000km series, this will be one of the rounds counting towards the 1000km overall mileage and all 1000km cars are eligible. In addition, as in the early ‘70s, Touring cars and GT cars of the same period will be accepted in their own classes. These will include Ferrari Daytona, Chevrolet Corvette and Camaro, Porsche 911 and 914, Alfa Romeo 1300 GTA, GTAM, Ford Escort's, Boss Mustangs, Pantera's etc.
The race is by invitation and will take place on Saturday afternoon June 2, with sensible refuelling arrangements in place. There will also be a five lap final on Sunday, with the starting grid inverted from practice times. There will be a substantial prize for the winner.
